Club champs today, and while the results will be published on t'interweb and in the club mag shortly, we felt we had to congratulate you all on the industrial-sized amount of pork pies, cakes, empanadas, cakes, chicken things, pasties and cakes that you brought for the food shoot.
A Lone Wolf, Going it Alone

Thankyou verr, verr, verr, verr much!
We don't blow our trumpet enough, but a hearty round of self-congratulatory back slapping for all at CMFB Towers for making KPAC welcome and pulling out all the stops. We've had a very nice letter of thanks from them after the inaugural Ascham Challenge match:

Guess who
Which recurver has been featured in their staff magazine for being an archer? They kept this one quiet from the club (too right as we'd wind them up no end - BW), but did enlist help from another member to take photos of them.
Which recurver was overheard at the Mini Somner saying, "I got three arrows on the wrong target."

Bags, Bows and Bones
On the morning of the 5th April 2013, I knew something was up. There was an array of suitcases, bowbags, my bed and a few bags of food all piled up by the front door.

(Cheese) Strings to his Bow
Not content with being a Master Fletcher and Bowyer, it seems a certain Mr Keene is also cornering the dairy market with his own brand of cheese.

CMFB 2012: That Was The Year That Was
Happy 2013!
Having overdone it on the festive sherries, I have to admit it was a pretty darned good year for CMFB. Thanks to all of you for a steady stream of gossip, pratfalls and blindingly brilliant archery.

A Very Marky Gangnam-Style Xmas
No pressure, but after this vid, we're expecting some shapes (not backs) thrown at the Brickfields during the Christmas Dinner.

Kent Police 2nd Blue Lamp Shoot
Ten of our archers were summoned to appear at the Police Sports Ground in Maidstone on Saturday 6 October, to undergo St. George and Albion tests in the 2nd Blue Lamp shoot. One of our party absconded and so the remaining nine passed through the checkpoint to join the other inmates at the field.

57th William Somner Tournament
Simon Langton School for Gels, Canterbury, 2 September 2012
For once on a Sunday I was on time, leading to much startlement in the Griffiths household. Unfortunately, said startlement meant that by the time I got to Canterbury's grounds, I was running late.
Reaching out for an archer
This is a scary thought (not for me as it means more gossipmongering opportunities). Look how many people our Twitter account now reaches*. World domination next. Mwah ha haaaaaaaaaaa.

Fine Dining
There comes a time when a master of gossip and high apprentice of special offer shopping decides that he should give something back to his gossip-oppressed club members.

Saltwood Castle Longbow Shoot 19 August 2012
All loaded up and ready to go on the Saturday, I just had the simple job of picking up Malc, Boggy Marsh and Alan B on route and Sunday’s fun could begin.

Sacre bleu
Further to Sunday's shoot from the tower, an onlooker was overheard offering this top tip:
"If Castle Moat and Folkestone Longbowers (stick chuckers) are defending a castle you are attacking, wear a multicoloured, circular-patterned hat with the predominent colours being gold, red and blue. Avoid black and white as they sometimes hit this colour, but on no account wear green as this will be fatal."

I've got the (baby, baby), trad longbow blu-ues
Imagine the scene: Saltwood Castle. A hot and humid Sunday morning, with a longbow shoot taking place in the moat. The camera pans across the archers then up into the trees and zooms in on... a sheep.

CM&FB's Open Tournament 2012
As organiser I was growing more and more concerned as the tournament drew near that there would not be enough people taking part. The uptake from outside clubs had been incredibly slow (only two entries at the time of the committee meeting a couple of weeks before).
